The “birth certificate” claimed by the Barack Obama campaign is not certified as authentic and appears to be a photoshopped fake.

The image, purporting to come from the Hawaii Department of Health, has been the subject of intense skepticism in the blogosphere in the past two weeks. But now the senior spokesman of that Department has confirmed to Israel Insider what are the required features of a certified birth document — features that Obama’s purported “birth certificate” clearly lack.

The image became increasingly suspect with Israel Insider’s revelation that variations of the certificate image were posted on the Photobucket image aggregation website — including one listing the location of Obama’s birth as Antarctica, one with the certificate supposedly issued by the government of North Korea, and another including a purported photo of baby Barack — one of which has a “photo taken” time-stamp just two minutes before the article and accompanying image was posted on the left-wing Daily Kos blog…

Bloomberg-

U.S. stocks tumbled, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its worst June since the Great Depression, as record oil prices, credit-market writedowns and a slowing economy threatened to extend a yearlong profit slump.

General Motors Corp., the largest U.S. automaker, plunged the most in three years as Goldman Sachs Group Inc. advised selling the stock and crude rose by $5 a barrel. Citigroup Inc. led the KBW Bank Index to an almost 10-year low as Goldman said the lender may report an $8.9 billion second-quarter charge and cut its dividend. Research In Motion Ltd., maker of the BlackBerry, posted its biggest drop since 2001 on concern competition with Apple Inc.’s iPhone is reducing earnings.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index plunged 38.82, or 2.9 percent, to 1,283.15, its biggest drop in three weeks. The Dow decreased 358.41, or 3 percent, to 11,453.42, its lowest since September 2006. SINGAPORE (AP) -

Oil prices climbed to a record above $141 a barrel in Asian trading Friday as the dollar’s protracted slump prompted investors to flock to oil as a hedge against inflation.

Prices were also lifted Thursday after OPEC’s president said crude prices could rise well above $150 a barrel this year and Libya said it may cut oil production.

Light, sweet crude for August delivery rose as high as $141.71 a barrel before pulling back to $141.10, up $1.46 in Asian electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, midafternoon in Singapore. The contract Thursday rose $5.09 to settle at a record $139.64.

YONGBYON, North Korea (AP) -

North Korea destroyed the most visible symbol of its nuclear weapons program Friday in a sign of its commitment to stop making plutonium for atomic bombs.

The demolition of the 60-foot-tall cooling tower at its main reactor complex is a response to U.S. concessions after the North delivered a declaration Thursday of its nuclear programs under an agreement at international arms talks.

A single blast at the base of the cylindrical structure sent the tower collapsing into a cloud of white and gray smoke as international journalists and diplomats looked on, according to video footage filmed by broadcaster APTN at the site. Those at the event later pored over the shattered pieces of the tower.

“This is a very important step in the disablement process and I think it puts us in a good position to move into the next phase,” said Sung Kim, the U.S. State Department’s top expert on the Koreas who attended the demolition. Kim shook hands with North Korean officials following the tower’s tumble to the ground…

WASHINGTON (AP) -

Americans can keep guns at home for self-defense, the Supreme Court ruled Thursday in the justices’ first-ever pronouncement on the meaning of gun rights under the Second Amendment.

The court’s 5-4 ruling struck down the District of Columbia’s ban on handguns. The decision went further than even the Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most federal firearms restrictions intact.

District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty responded with a plan to require residents of the nation’s capital to register their handguns. “More handguns in the District of Columbia will only lead to more handgun violence,” Fenty said.

The court had not conclusively interpreted the Second Amendment since its ratification in 1791. The amendment reads: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”…

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -

The price of retail gasoline could fall by half, to around $2 a gallon, within 30 days of passage of a law to limit speculation in energy-futures markets, four energy analysts told Congress on Monday.

Testifying to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Michael Masters of Masters Capital Management said that the price of oil would quickly drop closer to its marginal cost of around $65 to $75 a barrel, about half the current $135.
Fadel Gheit of Oppenheimer & Co., Edward Krapels of Energy Security Analysis and Roger Diwan of PFC Energy Consultants agreed with Masters’ assessment at a hearing on proposed legislation to limit speculation in futures markets.
Krapels said that it wouldn’t even take 30 days to drive prices lower, as fund managers quickly liquidated their positions in futures markets…

Rep. James Fagan, D-Taunton, Mass. (courtesy Boston Herald)

Massachusetts politician and defense attorney Rep. James Fagan is under intense public scrutiny after he promised to “rip apart” child victims of rape who testify if the state imposes strict sentences for sex offenders.

Fagan, a Democrat, made his controversial remarks on the state House floor, Fox News reported.

“I’m gonna rip them apart,” Fagan said of child victims. “I’m going to make sure that the rest of their life is ruined, that when they’re 8 years old, they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep; when they’re 19 years old, they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody.”

As a defense attorney, Fagan said he would prevent accused child sex offenders from experiencing a “mandatory sentence of those draconian proportions.”

According to the report, his statements angered both colleagues and activists…

The speaker of the House made it clear to me and more than forty of my colleagues yesterday that a bill by Rep. Mike Pence (R.-Ind.) to outlaw the “Fairness Doctrine” (which a liberal administration could use to silence Rush Limbaugh, other radio talk show hosts and much of the new alternative media)

would not see the light of day in Congress during ’08.  In ruling out a vote on Pence’s proposed Broadcaster’s Freedom Act, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-CA.) also signaled her strong support for revival of the “Fairness Doctrine” — which would require radio station owners to provide equal time to radio commentary when it is requested.

Experts say that the “Fairness Doctrine,” which was ended under the Reagan Administration, would put a major burden on small radio stations in providing equal time to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative broadcasters, who are a potent political force.  Rather than engage in the costly practice of providing that time, the experts conclude, many stations would simply not carry Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and other talk show hosts who are likely to generate demands for equal time…Click here to read entire story

Colorado’s new state law that was based on the apparent belief that free speech rights are not unalienable and they sometimes must be restricted is scaring residents who now fear expressing their opinions in public.

WND has reported previously that the law, SB200, which was promoted as an “anti-discrimination” plan favoring alternative sexual lifestyles and gender perceptions, has made it a criminal offense to discriminate against someone based on those lifestyles or perceptions.

The Christian publishing house Focus on the Family has called it a payback by the Democrat-controlled legislature and Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter to homosexual activists such as millionaire Tim Gill, who has donated widely to pro-homosexual political candidates…

Washington, DC – When Catholic youth around the world converge in Sydney, Australia for World Youth Day they’ll be handed condoms in an attempt to protest the pope’s unwavering opposition to abortion, contraception and homosexuality.

The NoToPope Coalition, a group of abortion, homosexual and atheist activists, including Raelians and the Socialist Alliance, will reportedly number between 1,000 and 5,000 protestors. They plan to distribute condoms to pilgrims en route to the Papal Mass at Randwick Racecourse July 20.

“It’s getting easier and easier to identify good and evil,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. “These young pilgrims will be an undeniable visual reminder that young Catholics, committed to living orthodox lives of faith, are the hope of the Church. They are already battling a world determined to undermine their God.”

Rachel Evans, organizer of the NoToPope protest said of Benedict XVI:

“He’s clearly a bigot,” Evans told the Sydney Morning Herald as she condemned his “hateful ideas” about abortion, contraception and homosexuality…

A coalition of African-American pastors and leaders are taking both major political parties to task over continued public funding of Planned Parenthood.

Dr. Alveda King is part of the group marching on Republican and Democratic National Headquarters in Washington. King says they are demanding that Planned Parenthood be de-funded.

Planned Parenthood, a non-profit organization, receives more than $300 million in tax funds and allegedly makes a profit. “Planned Parenthood is a leading provider of abortifacients, birth control, abortion counseling, and all of that,” says King. “And Planned Parenthood will take money to kill African-American babies.”

She says the federally funded group has a habit of locating abortion facilities in minority neighborhoods, and that it hides behind the “cloak of women’s rights.” “… [I]n that false promise of women’s rights, they take away the basic civil rights of America’s weakest and most vulnerable,” she continues. “And by their abortion activities, they are taking the lives and civil rights of little babies ….

U.S. immigration authorities have stepped up deportations, but rather than pursue illegal aliens, they have chosen to evict America’s church ministers from the country instead.

Honesty could cost Christian pastor Keith Thomas his citizenship because he cooperated with immigration officials, disclosing two minor marijuana convictions he incurred when he was a young man in England 33 years ago.

Thomas, 53, is working without pay, fearing deportation from the U.S. and separation from his family. He was denied a green card based on convictions that were expunged in 1982. Thomas told WND he has documentation to prove his clean record since the 1975 conviction and that he has always been truthful with officials, but he doesn’t understand why people who enter the country illegally are allowed to stay when he is facing the citizenship battle of his life.

“They’ve let 12 million illegals into the country, yet somebody has been doing some good, paying taxes, came in legally and has been married to an American for 27 years and has two American kids, and they’re going to kick him out?” Thomas asked. “I told the truth. Nobody called me out on my past. If I had not even owned up to my record, the government would not have been able to find any of it….

Gospel for Asia
For Immediate Release

The Lord is powerfully transforming lives in India—like Nesaraj’s—through the prayers of His people.

KERALA, INDIA (ANS) Living in a scenic paradise near lush fields and tea plantations could not stop Nesaraj from attempting suicide numerous times. He even had to be admitted to the hospital ICU three times.

Growing up in Kerala, South India, Nesaraj suffered from both physical and mental illness from a young age. His condition kept him from attending school, and he grew progressively worse. He behaved wildly and acted out in violent ways.

It was during this time period that he attempted to take his life multiple times.

Living in a scenic paradise near lush fields and tea plantations could not stop Nesaraj from attempting suicide numerous times.

Nesaraj’s parents worried about him intensely. It didn’t help that the medicines prescribed for Nesaraj were incredibly expensive—especially for a family that didn’t make much to begin with. Nesaraj’s parents were especially heartbroken to be investing so much of their hard-earned money in treatment without seeing any improvement in their son. Then they heard about Simson, a GFA missionary in the area—and longed for him to pray for their son. One day, Simson was leading a prayer meeting at a home near Nesaraj’s family. Hearing about the family, Simson went over to their house to pray for Nesaraj. The boy’s parents were happy to see him. Simson told them about the Lord Jesus, and his words encouraged them.

With tears, Simson prayed for Nesaraj’s complete healing. After he prayed, Nesaraj’s health began to improve. Touched by the Gospel message and the love displayed in the missionary, Nesaraj and his family chose to receive Christ as Savior.

They asked the pastor to conduct a several-day long prayer meeting in their home. The whole family fasted and prayed for three days. They rejoiced as the Lord delivered Nesaraj completely from his sickness.

Nesaraj was able to resume his studies, and the whole family began regularly attending worship at the church where Simson is pastor.

In addition to this church, Simson also leads a separate prayer fellowship of eight families. He asks for prayer that it, too, will soon grow into a church.- End
