MANILA, February 27, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) –Accompanied by several political figures and representatives from various academic organizations, over 10,000 youth attended a rally organized by the Philippine pro-life group, Youth for Life.  The purpose of the rally was to publicly proclaim the young people’s respect for the dignity and value of the gift of life and to condemn abuses of life through abortion, drugs and alcohol.

The rally was led by Ali Atienza, chairman of Manila’s Inner-City Development.  He addressed the attendees saying, “Poor governance causes poverty. Good government is Pro-Life.”

Youth for Life is an organization of young people dedicated to the promotion of the value of all human life.  It works hand in hand with Pro-Life Philippines, a larger organization also dedicated to the pro-life cause throughout the nation.  Lito Atienza, father of Ali Atienza, and Mayor of Manila is the President of Pro-Life Philippines.

Towards the end of the rally, the youth gathered and, as a group, approved a manifesto to support and further the pro-life efforts of Pro-Life Philippines.  The manifesto also affirmed that life is a blessing from God and encouraged respect for all life by avoiding pre-marital sex and fighting abortions and smoking, drugs and alcohol.End of story
