A former teacher at Perth Amboy’s William C. McGinnis School who had an “inappropriate relationship” with a 13-year-old male student has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and official misconduct.
Amy Burke, 32, of Carteret, agreed to forfeit her teacher’s certificate and serve up to four years in prison, according to Assistant Prosecutor Andrea Carter who negotiated the plea agreement with Burke’s Monmouth County attorney Raymond Santiago.
The second-degree charges carried a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
