They are willing to take the risk and wait hours. Hundreds of people, some illegal immigrants, are lining up at New Haven city hall for new municipaln I.D. cards that have stirred controversy across the country.
The Elm City residency card is the hottest item around. Many in line at city hall this morning admit they are illegal immigrants, anxious to obtain an
American I.D. They also admit they are afraid of immigration agents finding them but are willing to take the chance.One man lined up outside city hall at 6:00 AM and still had a long wait.
“It’s too long,” he said. “That’s too long the line so, maybe a 150 or 200 people in front of me.”…
